Cisco Certified Network Associate
The CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) certification is an entry level certification for networking professionals. It is the first step to higher level certifications, such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) and Cisco Certified Internet work Expert (CCIE) certification.
A hard nut?

The CCNA certification is the best option for the computer net workers, field technicians, IT helps desk engineers, and other professionals of IT associated with controlling the computer networking process. This certificate is considered as the basic qualification for installing, operating, configuring and troubleshooting a mid-sized switched and routed network. A CCNA certified professional is considered to be trained in working with a networking environment that includes a group of switched networks. In simple terms, the CCNA certified professional is able to manage a host of computer routed networks connected through switches.
Some Facts
The CCNA exam is of one and half hour duration comprising of around fifty questions. The level of the exam is moderate with very little hard questions. CCNA certification is valid for three years after which the candidate has to reappear for recertification. It is a process Cisco has envisaged to keep the candidate's knowledge up to date. So to obtain recertification the candidate has to pass the ongoing CCNA exam or ICND2 exam or any exam of the 642 category. It is entirely up to the candidate to go for recertification process. But Cisco always recommends going for the recertification because it is very important for IT professionals and other candidates to be aware of the changing trends and keep your knowledge updated.
There are no prerequisites to CCNA, but it should be treated as an intermediate certification. Those who have no prior knowledge about networking should lay their foundation by taking CompTIA Network. CCNA certification is itself a prerequisite to CCNP, CCSP and the CCIE.
CCNA Wireless Certification
Cisco Certified Network Associate Wireless (CCNAŽ Wireless) validates associate-level knowledge and skills to configure, implement and support of wireless LANs, specifically those networks using Cisco equipment. With a CCNA Wireless certification, network professionals can support a basic wireless network on a Cisco WLAN in a SMB to enterprise network. The CCNA Wireless curriculum includes information and practice activities to prepare them for configuring, monitoring and troubleshooting basic tasks of a Cisco WLAN in SMB and Enterprise networks.

CCNA Wireless Recertification:

CCNA Security Certification
Cisco Certified Network Associate Security (CCNAŽ Security) validates associate-level knowledge and skills required to secure Cisco networks. With a CCNA Security certification, a network professional demonstrates the skills required to develop a security infrastructure, recognize threats and vulnerabilities to networks, and mitigate security threats. CCNA Voice Certification
The Cisco Certified Network Associate Voice (CCNAŽ Voice) validates associate-level knowledge and skills required to administer a voice networkThe CiscoŽ CCNA Voice certification confirms that the required skill set for specialized job roles in voice technologies such as voice technologies administrator, voice engineer, and voice manager. It validates skills in VoIP technologies such as IP PBX, IP telephony, handset, call control, and voicemail solutions.
The CCNA Voice Certification enterprise option assesses skills/knowledge related to the Cisco Unified Communications Manager 6.0 (CUCM) 6.0. It is typically employed by large organizations such as governments, large companies, and colleges. The CVOICE #642-436 exam will be required for this option.
The CCNA Voice Certification commercial option assesses skills/knowledge related to the Cisco CallManager Express (CME) and Cisco Unity Express (CUE) solutions typically used by medium & small organizations such as companies with less than 2,000 employees, retail businesses, and small school districts. The IIUC exam #640-460 will be required for this option.

Important information regarding CCNA Voice
On June 24th, 2009, Learning@Cisco announced program changes to the CCNA Voice certification. There will now be two options available for candidates wishing to achieve their CCNA Voice certification: A commercial option and an enterprise option.
